전시 상세 내용

양주시립민복진미술관은 민복진 타계 10주기를 맞이하여, 그가 남긴 작품 속에 담긴 시간을 눈과 손으로 천천히 더듬어 보는 전시 《스틸 라이프》를 마련했습니다. 하나의 조각이나 사물을 오래 바라보는 일은 흔치 않습니다. 그러나 머무는 시선 속에서 대상의 형태와 표면에 축적된 시간은 서서히 그 모습을 드러냅니다.
이번 전시는 정물화를 그리기 위해 대상을 관찰하듯, 민복진의 조각을 바라보는 태도에서 출발합니다. 관람자는 일상의 사물과 함께 놓인 조각을 세심하게 관찰하며 그립니다. 이 과정을 통해 차갑고 단단한 돌과 금속이 부드럽고 온기 있는 형상에 이르기까지의 시간과 과정을 상상하게 됩니다.
조각가의 손과 몸의 움직임, 재료가 남긴 흔적, 표면 위에 켜켜이 쌓인 시간은 관람자의 눈과 손을 통해 더욱 또렷해집니다. 바라보고 그리는 경험 속에서 민복진 조각이 지닌 물성과 시간성을 조용히 되새기는 계기가 되기를 바랍니다.

Marking the 10th anniversary of Min Bokjin’s passing, this exhibition invites visitors to slowly trace, with both eyes and hands, the time embedded in the works he left behind. It is not common to spend a long time looking at a single sculpture or object. Yet through a lingering gaze, we may begin to discover the time that has settled into the form and surface of what we see.
Still Life is conceived as a moment to look at Min Bokjin’s sculptures as one would observe a subject when drawing a still life. Take time to carefully observe the forms and surfaces of the sculptures placed alongside everyday objects, and imagine the long processes through which cold, hard stone and metal came to assume these warm and gentle appearances.
The movements of the sculptor’s hands and body, the traces left by materials, and the layers of time built up on the surface become clearer through the eyes and hands of the viewer. Through the acts of looking and drawing, we hope this exhibition offers a quiet opportunity to reflect on the material presence and temporality of Min Bokjin’s sculptures.
