양주시립장욱진미술관

하나를 위한 하나, 예술을 향한 자기경쟁 ‘Seven-ONE’ 전은 양주시립장욱진미술관의 산하기관인 장흥조각레지던스의 4기 입주작가 공모프로그램 전시로 작가들의 2년간 입주결과를 선보임과 동시에 공정한 경쟁과 심사를 거처 최종 1인 ‘조각대상’을 선정하여 조각대상과 상금을 수여하는 예술상 제도이다. 양주시에서는 국내유일 조각전문스튜디오 장흥조각레지던스를 지난 2008년부터 운영하여, 역량 있는 중견조각가들의 창작활동을 지원해왔다. 특히 이번 전시에 참여한 4기 입주작가는 스튜디오 입주, 공모전시, 조각대상이라는 파격적인 입주공모에 선정된 작가들로 열띤 심사를 거쳐 최종 선정된 김태은, 김홍석, 박문희, 송 필, 임선이, 조보환이다. 양주시립장욱진미술관 조각대상 은 입주작가의 2년간의 예술활동과 성과를 진지하게 살펴볼 수 있는 전시이자 <조각대상>을 향한 작가들의 열정과 투지가 깃든 프로젝트이다. <조각대상>은 단지 입주작가만을 위한 제도가 아니라 향후 조각분야 혹은 미술 전반에 대한 상을 수여하고, 공로를 치하하고자 하는 양주시와 양주시립장욱진미술관의 정신을 대변하고 있다. 은 기존 창작지원금 제도를 확대, 조각대상을 강조함으로써 향후 양주시와 양주시립장욱진미술관의 예술정책의 방향성을 제시하며 지역의 미술관과 레지던스의 역할에 대해 진지한 물음을 제기하고 있다. 미술창작스튜디오는 이제 단순히 창작공간을 지원하는 것을 넘어 예술가들과 함께 시대의 흐름을 만들어가야 한다. 특히, 전통조각의 경계를 허물고 사진, 미디어, 복합매체를 통한 다양한 시도들을 통하여 예술의 가능성을 확인 할 수 있을 것이다. 그렇기에 조각대상 이 ‘조각’의 개념을 넘어서 예술에 대한 진지한 연구와 예술가의 열정을 향한 <예술상>으로 기록되기를 염원한다. One for the one, Self-competition toward the art Seven-ONE Seven-ONE exhibition show four artists of 4th Jangheung Sculpture Residences which is an affiliated organization of Chang Ucchin Museum of Art Yangju City. This exhibition shows the competition outcome for the past two years of residence. A final winner will be selected through fair competition and reviews who will receive ‘The Sculpture Award’ Yangju City has operated Jangheung Sculpture Residence since 2008 which is the one and only sculpture studio in Korea and has supported creations of competent professional sculptures. In particular, the 4th residential artists participated in this exhibition are Kim Tae-eun, Kim Hong-seok, Park Gi-jin, Park Mun-hee, Song Feel, Im Sun-iy, and Jo Bo-hwan who were selected after the unprecedented completion of exhibition and sculpture awards as well as to use the studio. Chang Ucchin Museum of Art Yangju City’s sculpture exhibition Seven-ONE shows the accomplishments of two years by the artists and the passion and efforts of the artists. This sculpture competition is not only to support the resident artists but also to award the overall arts or the sculptors in the future and to praise the artists’ contribution. This is the philosophy of Chang Ucchin Museum of Art Yangju City. Seven-ONE expands existing creation fund system and stresses the sculpture exhibition to suggest a direction for the future art policy of Yangju and Chang Ucchin Museum of Art Yangju City and raise question on the role of the local museums and the residence. The art creation studio should make flow of the time with artists beyond mere supporting of the creation space. In particular, we may find the potential of arts through diverse trials of photo, media, and multi-media beyond the boundary of conventional sculpture. Therefore, we hope that the sculpture competition Seven-ONE will be record as an ‘art competition’ toward sincere study and passion of the artists beyond the concept of ‘sculpture’
